When the Words Won’t Come
Sometimes, the silence isn’t heavy. It’s selective.
It shows up in certain rooms, around certain people…
not because there’s nothing to say,
not because you’re shy, cold, or closed off,
but because nothing in the atmosphere invites the truth out of you.
And so the words… don’t come.
They shrink back into the chest, curl around the ribs, and stay there.
Heavy-not silent-but stuck.
It’s not fear or hesitation.
It’s the absence of connection.
The rhythm around you doesn’t match your own.
You try to talk. But the words scatter before they land.
Not for lack of thought,
but because there’s no pull to express it.
You nod. You smile. You float.
But deep inside, you know...
this isn’t where you belong.
Not because they’re bad. Not because you’re better.
The body knows.
The heart knows.
The mind knows.
So it chooses stillness over struggle.
Words don’t flow when the heart feels disconnected.
You observe, you listen, you try...
but when you want to speak, the words scatter.
Maybe that’s not a bad thing.
Maybe it’s a sign.
Because when you find your people, it’s different.
You don’t search for what to say.
You don’t calculate your tone.
You just speak, and it fits.
There’s a calm rhythm...
not forced, not overthought, just easy.
Until then, silence isn’t awkward.
It’s not emptiness.
It’s clarity.
It’s the body choosing not to waste itself in the wrong crowd.
The mind pulling back from what drains it.
Peace choosing itself over performance.
The words haven’t failed.
They’re just waiting...
for the right space,
the right people,
the right moment
to rise.
Thank you for sitting with my thoughts today. Until next time, stay gentle with yourself and with others.
